Quick Fixes Before Buyers Come To Look at Your Home

Real Estate Agents know that it is quite difficult when you have a last minute showing and your house looks less than perfect and you don't have too much time to get the house in order, so here are some quick tips to getting the most important things done so the house looks more presentable before that showing.

Make sure that the family discard their shoes, jackets and bags into a basket or storage so that it is out of sight and keeps a clear path for buyers entering the home. 


Every morning and every evening pack the dishes into the dishwasher and wipe and clear the kitchen counters. Even if the floors are less than perfect, your kitchen will always look neat, tidy and uncluttered. If you haven't had a chance to empty the dishwasher yet and don't have a enough time before the appointment, pile the dishes in the sink and under a clean dish towel and they will be hidden from view til you can deal with them.

Living Room

Have a toy box or basket handy to stack away things every evening before you go to bed, so that the lounge floor and table surfaces remain free of clutter. Puff the loose cushions and open the blinds in the morning so that the room is bright and cheerful. 


Make the beds first thing in the morning and put the clothes that are laying around, into the laundry basket. You can always sort out the clothes later in the day. In the meantime the room will look so much tidier if the beds are made and floors/chairs are cleared of clothes. Always open the curtains or blinds to allow the maximum light into the room.


Always make sure that the shower curtain is drawn closed after the evening baths and that the bathroom floor has a clean mat and is free of clothes and wet towels. Leave a container of wet wipes handy in the bathroom ready to wipes the counters and taps and the toilet seat. Close the toilet lid and spray a little air freshener for a perfect finish.

Pet odors are always an issue - there is no shortcut to that. The best you can do is keep their beds washed and fresh and try and limit the fur dustings onto the furniture and floors.

When you have completed the quick tidy to the house, walk through with a can of febreze or similar and on the way through the house spray into the air and on the way back out spray onto the carpets or curtains, it adds a fresh appeal to the house and is a welcoming approach when buyers arrive.
