Characteristics of a Great Real Estate Agent

We believe that there are certain characteristics that make a great real estate agent, a skill set that separates the good agents from the not so good ones. In a people industry such as ours Agents need these qualities:

We know that timing is a huge factor when you are considering a move. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, you need time to do your own research before you make the final decision that's right for your particular circumstances. Research has shown that buyers and sellers often contemplate a move for up to 18 months before it happens. Real estate agents know that you want to be left alone to do that initial investigation, but often we appear anxious and want to send you more information because we don't want to appear disinterested or lacking in service.  We do know that patience is a virtue and a characteristic of a great real estate agent. 

Good Listeners:
Your real estate agent should be a good listener. In fact they should listen more than they speak. They will ask many questions and listen to your feedback and understand your needs. They should also be able to read your body language and know what your unspoken words are too. Its all about communication and a great real estate agent with loads of experience has seen it all before and will be able to answer all your questions by skillful listening. Meeting in person is an absolute must before embarking on a home search or home sale. Unspoken words speak volumes.

We realize that two way communication is vital in a great working relationship. We believe that relaying important points and information simply and in a direct manner is the best way. We value feedback and we trust that our feedback is clear and understandable and that we leave nothing to doubt.

We respect your time and we know that you don't want to be bothered by frivolous time wasting activities. We also know that you need time to give us the clear picture so that we know how best to serve your needs. If we have clarity, your time will be used well and vice versa. Our job is to give you confidence in your decision and to calm you down when things go awry. Sometimes a real estate transaction can be trying and throw curved balls but we want you to rest assured knowing we can deal with almost any situation. We have the support if we cannot solve it ourselves.

Great real estate agents are resourceful. They know when they need to switch direction and try a different aspect. They are creative yet respectful always looking out for you, their client.   

Real estate agents have a work ethic to follow. Its very easy for them to skip out and take time out, but a great real estate agent will be always thinking and planning ahead to give you the smoothest best possible transaction. They are strategic and have a great follow-up plan in place.

Great real estate agents are flexible. They know your circumstances and your minds can change and they are able to step up to the plate and give you the perfect solution to suit your needs.

Service Oriented:
All agents are service oriented, but few offer service excellence. Most real estate agents will be helpful, considerate and thoughtful. Some will be trustworthy, dependable and reliable. Great real estate agents cover all those bases consistently, however their service will go beyond expectation recognizing that you ARE their business. They are credible and empathetic and gracious, over delivering in every aspect of their service. You will know a great agent when you meet one.
