Organizing before your helpers get there to move can save you a lot of time. It is way easier to carry out boxes rather than have to pack those boxes on moving day. Once you have those boxes packed, be sure to label them with permanent marker with the destination they are to go to when they arrive at their new home.
Make things that you will need easily accessible
While moving, you may need a set of tools to dissemble and assemble furniture or anything else you may have. Or what about toilet paper? Paper towels maybe? Regardless of what you may need or want to make your move go smoothly, make sure you have it packed in a separate bag or clear box that you will have easy access to.
Have Ziploc bags handy
Ziploc bags? Why would you need Ziploc bags? Well if you have anything with screws or any other assembly pieces, keeping them in separate bags and taping them to the thing they belong to helps you keep track of everything you need to put it back together.
Keep your valuables close to you
You don't want to lose any of your valuables during the move. Whether it's jewelry, or money, or just something precious to you, be sure to put it in something that only you will be moving. A couple good options are a purse or a backpack. Then since you are the only one moving it, you will know that it is still with you and nothing has been done with it.
Treat your movers with some food and drinks
Whether you got professional movers or just a group of friends came over, at the end of the move, treat your helpers to some pizza and drinks. They worked hard and deserve a little treat. As you!
Bottom line, have fun with your move. It can get stressful and hectic but the more fun you have with it, the easier it seems to be. We want to hear from you! What moving day tips do you have that has made your moves easier? Let us know on our social medias!
